Wayanad is often referred to as the “Ooty of Kerala” due to its stunning landscapes and pleasant climate, reminiscent of the popular hill station. With its abundant greenery, it’s affectionately known as the “Green Paradise.”
This unique district is the only one in Kerala that shares borders with both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Among its notable attractions is the Banasura Sagar Dam, the only earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia, which adds to the region’s scenic beauty.
- Best Time to Visit
Wayanad is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is from October to May.
During the summer months of March to May, temperatures range from 20°C to 35°C, making mornings and evenings ideal for sightseeing, while the peak afternoon heat is best avoided.
The winter season, from October to February, is the peak tourism period. The weather during these months is misty and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 24°C, creating a perfect atmosphere for exploring the region.

- Wayanad is well-connected by a wide network of roads from different parts of Kerala as well as Karnataka. KSRTC buses are available from all nearby cities like Bangalore, Mysore, Kochi, Chennai and Trivandrum to Wayanad.
- Calicut Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Wayanad which is located at a distance of 87.2 Km. On arrival at the station, you can make use of taxis or buses to reach Wayanad.
- Calicut International Airport is the nearest airport to Wayanad which is located at a distance of 65 Km. On arrival at the airport, you can make use of the local taxis or bus to reach Wayanad.
