Divya Desam temples are dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In these temples, 12 Azhwars did 4000 Divya Prabandhams. There are 84 Divya Desams in Tamilnadu. Among them, 18 Temples belong tp Pandya Nattu Divya Desams.
On arrival at Madurai airport / railway station, after meet & greet formalities, get transferred to your hotel and check in. Later visit Thirumalai Nayakar Palace, Meenakshi Amman temple. Overnight Hotel in Madurai.
After breakfast drive to Thirumayam and visit Satyagiri Natha perumal. This temple is located in the outskirts of Pudukkottai and it is believed to have been built in 9th century by the Pandya Kings. The temple is maintained and administered by the Archaeological Survey of India as a protected monument. Your next visit will be Tirukottiyur Sowmya Narayana Perumal which is located in the outskirts of Karaikal district. The main deity is Lord Sowmya Narayana perumal or Sri Uraga Mellanayaan perumal. Lord Sowmyanarayana Perumal is believed to have been appeared as Narasimha before the celestial deities in this temple. Later visit Algarkovil Kallazhagar temple, located about 22 kms away from Madurai. The main deity is lord Vishnu, who is worshiped as Kallazhagar in his standing posture. During the month of Chitirai, Chithirai festival is celebrates in this temple. For the first 15 days, the wedding ceremony of Goddess Meenakshi Amman – Lord Sundareshwarar is celebrated and the next 15 days, Lord Azhagar’s visit to Madurai is celebrated. The main event of this festival is Lord Kallazhakar Crossing River Vaigai. Evening drive back to hotel. Overnight Hotel in Madurai.
After breakfast, visit Koodal Azhagar temple. Located close to Meenakshi temple, this is one of the famous temples in Madurai, dedicated to lord Vishnu and he is worshiped as Lord Koodal Azhagar in this temple. Lord Koodal Aḻagar is believed to have been appeared before the demon Somuka to slay him, since he abducted the four Vedas. This temple was constructed by the Pallava kings. Next proceed to Kaalamega Perumal temple which is dedicated to lord Vishnu. He is worshiped as Sri Kalamega perumal in this temple. It was constructed by the Pandya kings and later by Madurai Nayakkar kings. Then drive to Thirupillani to visit Kalyana Jagannatha perumal temple near Ramanathapuram. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. The main deity is Sri Kalyana Jagannatha perumal or Adi Jagannath perumal. As per Hindu legend, during Ramayana, Lord Rama prayed to the Samudraraja (God of Ocean) to pave the way to reach Lanka. After lunch drive to Sivakasi and visit Nidra Narayana perumal temple, dedicate to lord Vishnu. The temple in its present form was believed to have been built by the Pandya kings. Next visit will be Srivilliputhur Vadabadra Saayi perumal temple, dedicated to Andal, one of the incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi and lord Vishnu. The temple had been constructed during different times of Vijayanagar and Pandya kings. Lord Vishnu as Vatapatrasayi is believed to have been appeared before Andal, Periyalvar and sages Markandeya and Bhrigu in this temple. Later drive to Tirunelveli and check in to hotel. Later return to hotel. If time permits visit Nellaiappar temple. Overnight Hotel in Tirunelveli.
After breakfast check out and drive to Thotthatrinathar temple, located in Nanguneri. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu who is worshiped here as Thothatrinatha perumal. Next vistNidra Nambi perumal temple, located in Thirukurungudi at a distance of 15 kms from Nanguneri. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and the main deity is Nidra Nambi Naayana Perumal, also known as Vaishnava Nambi perumal. If time permits visit Malaimel Nambi in a Reserved forest by hiring a jeep on your own to reach the hill top. Later drive to Madurai and upon arrival transfer to airport/ railway station to board on ward journey.
