There’s a poignant tale about Mandhiniar, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. During her worship, her son Banasura assisted by collecting numerous Shiva lingams, embarking on a journey to Thirupugalur. However, despite his strength, he struggled to move one specific Lingam and, feeling defeated, was reassured by a divine voice that promised Lord Shiva’s presence at his mother’s pooja. True to the promise, Lord Shiva blessed Mandhiniar with his presence during her worship before returning to Thirupugalur.
