In Tarukavanam, proud and arrogant Rishis believed their Yagas gave Lord Siva his divine power. To teach them a lesson, Siva appeared as a handsome beggar, mesmerizing the Rishis’ wives, while Vishnu disguised as a beautiful woman, attracting the Rishis. Realizing they were fooled, the Rishis attempted to destroy the gods using an elephant. Siva then revealed himself, killed the elephant, and shattered the Rishis’ pride.
