In Kanjanagaram, sages plagued by demons sought help from Goddess Parvathi, who interrupted Lord Shiva’s Katrajyothi Yoga. Furious, Shiva released six sparks that formed Karthikeya (Lord Murugan), who later defeated the demons. This temple is revered as Karthikeya’s birthplace and is closely linked to the Karthigai star.
