Guruvayoorappan Temple
Guruvayoorappan Temple Form Thrissur district
- Temple's Peculiarity
Experience the tranquility of Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple in Mutharasanallur, located in the Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu. This temple is a faithful replica of the revered Sri Krishna temple in Guruvayoor, Kerala, following its worship protocols closely. While the principal deity is Sri Krishna, it also houses sanctuaries for Ayyapan, Vinayaka, Karupannaswamy, Sankaracharya, and Shirdi Saibaba.
The temple boasts a stunning pond with a twelve-pillared mandapam intricately carved with deities and a charming four-pillared mandapam at its center. In the pond’s south-west corner, a striking Gajendra Moksha scene depicts Lord Vishnu with an elephant and a crocodile. A golden lotus, reminiscent of the one in Madurai’s Meenakshi Amman Temple, adds to its beauty. A delightful sculpture of Pillaiyar reclines at the pond’s entrance, engrossed in a book. With its Kerala-style wooden craftsmanship and traditional Dravidian design, the temple is a true architectural gem, celebrated for its daily rituals and devotion.
- Location and Accessibility
Located in Muthurasanallur village, the temple is about 7 km from Chathiram Bus Stand on the Trichy-Karur highway and just 250 meters from the nearest railway station.
