Sri Chandran Sthalam Thingalur

Sri Chandran Sthalam From Thingalur

The temple, Chandran Sthalam, helps those born under Kadaga Rasi by worshipping Kailasanathar and the Moon God, Chandran, whose legend involves exposing a demon during the ocean’s churning, leading to Raaghu and Kedhu, while Shiva’s blessing allows Chandran to wax and wane, marking the Full Moon and New Moon.

This thousand-year-old Navagraha Temple, known as Sri Chandran Sthalam, features Dravidian architecture and is dedicated to the planetary deities, with Lord Shiva (Kailasanathar) as the presiding deity and separate shrines for Lord Muruga, Goddess Gajalakshmi, Lord Vinayagar, and others.

The temple draws thousands of devotees year-round to worship Chandran, the Moon God, particularly during Puratasi and Panguni when the moon’s rays illuminate the deity. It holds historical significance, linked to Appoothi Adikal and Thirunavukkarasar, with white offerings like White Arali flowers and rice mixed with jaggery.
